Born
in West Yorkshire in the early 1993, Conor showed an
interest
in drums from an early age. At the age of about 3, Conor’s
favourite hobbies were banging on biscuit tins with chopsticks
and listening to Led Zeppelin CD’s, and proceeded
to get drum lessons from the age of 4, now at the age
of 17, he has a fiery passion for drumming and plans
on playing for the rest of his life.
Conor
started gigging with Trip-hop outfit Cool Piano Roll
when he was 14 years old, and considers
this as
his first “proper” band, the band won a Battle
Of The Bands in 2008, and Conor picked up the award for
best drummer of the competition. Since then Conor has
played in many local, national and international bands,
big and small, worked with various theatre companies
playing drums for various musicals, done several tours
across Europe and generally had a lot of fun doing what
he loves the most, drumming.
By
the age of 15, Conor had already developed a reputation
as one of the loudest, and most exciting
up and coming
drummers in the area, known within local venues as “that
drummer that doesn’t need micing up” due
to his loud Bonham-esque technique. However, in late
2008, Conor turned his drumming focus towards jazz, and
started to play with Northwest jazz heroes Brian Acton
and Chris Flaherty,
In 2010, Conor read an advert for a Prog-Rock band needing
a drummer in Leeds, and after a furious day of learning
some songs, writing out lead sheets and an audition,
got the place as the Drummer for Guy Manning, continuing
on from drummer Dave Albone.
Conor uses a Mapex Orion and Premier Soundwave drums,
Paiste 2002, 3000 and Signature cymbals, Pearl drum pedals,
Vater sticks, Remo drumheads and Premier hardware.
